Kannur | Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today said that the government would take over the Pariyaram Medical College(PMC) soon and the procedures are going on in this regard at a speedy manner.
Talking to newsmen on the sidelines of a function at Chamber Hall here today, Mr Oommen Chandy said a detailed report including the assets and liabilities and the number of employees, would be submitted before the government by District Collector P Balakiran soon. The government would take further action after receiving the collector’s report.
The government had already decided to take over the PMC in February 2014 on the basis of various reports sourced by the government including the opinion of the Finance and Law Departments.
Meanwhile, District Collector P Balakiran is preparing a comprehensive report after conducting a study by a special team, appointed by him, which include cooperative, health and revenue departments staff.
According to sources, the PMC has liabilities to the tune of Rs 785 crore and total assets Rs 1,174 crore and has 1937 employees.
PMC alone had 960 staff, including 861 permanent employees and 41 contract employees. Remaining were daily wagers and trainees. While in Academy of Medical Science,there were 977 employees including 646 permanent employees and 263 contract employees.
All the political parties, CPI(M),Congress, BJP and Action Committees were demanding take over the PMC from the hands of CPI(M) controlled director Board.
