AYUSH centres to be set up in all PHCs

Thiruvananthapuram | The Centre will strengthen and improve the quality and outreach of AYUSH services at all level ranging from Primary Health Centres (PHC) to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Union Minister for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik has said.
Inaugurating the National AROGYA Expo 2015, the largest fair in complementary and alternative health care here in the city, he said The Centre is approaching UNESCO for considering Yoga as a subject of Indian cultural heritage.
India will sign MoUs on bilateral ties with other countries to set up Indian alternative medicine centres. So far, Hungary, Bangladesh, Mauritius and Nepal have signed MoUs, the minister said today.
The May 21-24 expo is being organised by the Ministry of AYUSH in association with World Ayurveda Foundation, Government of Kerala and Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology to foster the growth of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) and popularising it among the common man.
The AYUSH Department under Government of Kerala will start functioning by next week, Kerala Health Minister Sivakumar said in his presidential address.
He also said that government has taken steps to start an Ayurveda University headquatering Kottackal.
