Nodal agency to control swimming pools in Kerala

Kozhikode | The Kerala Child Rights Commission today directed the state government to set up a nodal agency to issue license and to draw up other regulatory mechanisms and safety standards with respect to public swimming pool operations especially there which are used to train children.
It also  directed to submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) by the respondent within 30 days of the receipt of this order as mandated under rule 45 of the Kerala State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights Rules, 2012, said a release here today.
Commission Chairperson Shoba Koshy issued the order following media reports of a 12 year old boy’s death in a swimming pool named Picca Centre near Pothencode, Thiruvananthapuram.
