New Delhi | Country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru was today remembered on his 51st death anniversary with leaders paying homage at his memorial Shanti Van here.
President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi , former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi were among the leaders who paid floral tributes to Pt Nehru.
However, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi was not present in the programme organised by All India Congress Committee as he is on a visit to Kerala to meet fishermen.
Mr Modi also paid homage to Pt Nehru on the micro-blogging site twitter.

An inter-faith prayer meeting was held at Shanti Van where scriptures from different religions were recited. Devotional songs were also rendered during the programme.
Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, Sheila Dikshit, Ahmed Patel, Sriprakash Jaiswal and Ajay Maken were among others, who paid homage.
An excerpt of Pt Nehru’s address to the people of India calling upon them to work for strengthening unity and integrity of the country and respecting other religions, was also played during the programme.
