New chief for Southern Air Command

Thiruvananthpauram | Air Marshal Jasbir Walia assumed charge of Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Air Command, today. The traditional Guard of Honour was presented by the air warriors.
He takes over as the 24th Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of SAC at a time when the Southern Air Command is poised for major operational inductions and associated infrastructural developments.
He was commissioned in the fighter stream of the IAF on June 15, 1979. His operational experience includes flying all versions of MiG-21 aircraft, Jaguar aircraft and various trainer aircraft. He is a qualified Flying Instructor, Pilot Attack Instructor and Fighter Combat Leader.
He has served as Directing Staff at Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment (TACDE), a premier flying institution of the IAF.
He is a graduate of Defence Services Staff College and has undergone the Air War Course at Air War College, Montgomery, Alabama, USA.
