Bomb hurdled at CPI(M) worker, 1 country bomb recovered

Kannur | Two masked assailants hurled two country made bombs against CPI(M) Activist Dheeraj Kumar of Talap at Ambadimukku this afternoon.
Police recovered one country made bomb from the spot. Later, police and bomb squad conducted raid at nearby areas.
According to police, Dheeraj Kumar of CPI(M) defected BJP last January. Ambadimukku is one of the strong holds of BJP near Kannur Town.
Dheeraj Kumar (39) was on way to his house after attending a case in a  local court  when two assailants threw bombs at him and fled. However, Dheeraj Kumar escaped unhurt. Police and bomb squad rushed to the spot and recovered one country made bomb and shifted it to town police station.
About 100 BJP activists joined CPI(M) January last year. However, most of them rejoined BJP  while few of them led by Dheeraj Kumar remained in CPI(M).
Following the shifts in party, there was tension between the two parties at Ambadimukku.
In another incident, a SFI worker, Akshay of K K V Higher Secondary School at Panoor, was injured in an attack by suspected ABVP activists and he was admitted at Thalassery Cooperative Hospital at around noon.
In retaliation, SFI activists attacked Navaneeth of same school at around 1215 hrs. He was admitted to Panoor Health Centre.
