Kochi | After about a decade, the Cochin Port has started receiving wheat shipments in this season with the first vessel M.V.PAN EDEL WEISS carrying 31800 Tonnes of Australian Wheat imported for P.K.Rolller Flour Mills, Kozhikode.
The vessel was berthed at Ernakulam Wharf of the Port today morning, a release said here today.
Informing that the next shipment was also announced in a fortnights time, it said the port had made elaborate arrangements to store the wheat consignment coming in the Monsoon time.
In a meeting convened at the Kerala Head Load Worker Welfare Board, leaders of the Trade Unions operating in the Port have called for concerted effort to handle the cargo with care and evacuate the cargo at the earliest so as to set high standards and ensure repeat imports.
