New Delhi | Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will lead JD(U)-RJD combine in the forthcoming assembly polls as its Chief Ministerial candidate, it was officially announced here today.
RJD supremo Lalu Yadav, flanked by Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh, said in a press conference that he has decided to give full support to Mr Kumar as Chief Ministerial candidate to defeat the communal forces in the state.
Amid clear ultimatum emanating from the JD(U) for the RJD to relent on the issue on who should lead the alliance, Mr Prasad said he never opposed Mr Kumar’s name for CM candidate as the common goal of the combine was to stop the communal forces in the state.
Nitish Kumar is currently CM and we will fight next election in Bihar under his leadership. Let there be no doubt in anybody’s mind, the former chief minister added.
Mr Mulayam Singh, who is said to be the chief architect of merger of erstwhile Janata Parivar parties, lend his support to Mr Kumar’s candidature and officially announced his name for the post.
