New Delhi | A day after Jitender Singh Tomar resigned as Delhi Law Minister following his arrest by the police in a fake degree case, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Deputy Manish Sisodia today met Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung to submit Mr Tomar’s resignation.
Mr Tomar had late last night resigned from his post following his arrest in a case related to a fake degree from a Bihar university. He had resigned on grounds of morality to prevent any damage to the image of the party and the government. He had sent his resignation to the Chief Minster from his lock up.
The AAP has described the arrest as a conspiracy by the Centre and it of trying to impose an emergency-like situation in Delhi.
Sources said Delhi Jal Board vice-chairman Kapil Mishra is likely to be the new Law Minister in place of Tomar.
Mr Mishra is representing the Karawal Nagar constituency. Known as a Kejriwal loyalist, Mishra has been associated with him since the India Against Corruption days.
