Kozhikode | The All India Airport Users’ Forum (AIAUF) today demanded a probe by Central Bureau of Investigation or National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the shoot out that killed a Central Industrial Security Force jawan at Calicut International Airport two days ago.
Talking to reporters here today, AIAUF President K M Basheer said culprits responsible for the brawl should be booked under the Kerala Anti-social (Prevention) Act (KAPA) as the incident on June 10 night attracted global attention.
He said it was strange that security forces, responsible for taking on terror elements, were acting as ‘terrorists.’
Justifying the CISF for imposting strict norms to maintain security at the airport, he said they had the moral right to undertake physical checking of those entering the airport, whosoever it may be.
Lack of coordination and competition between different security agencies were the reasons for the brawl that led to the shoot out in which jawan S S Yadav was killed, he said.
Welcoming Airports Authority of India’s decision to stop landing of jumbo jets at the airport, he said action should be taken against those responsible for granting permission for the purpose.
He alleged runway at the Calicut Airport was not capable of handling landing of big flights but permission was granted illegally.
