Thiruvananthapuram | As many as 23 persons were taken into custody during the last two days on the charge of selling cigarette, pan masala and other tobacco products to school children.
As per the guideline, no shop within a 500-meter radius of schools in Kerala can sell tobacco products. The state-wide raid was carried out from 0600 hrs yesterday to 0600 hrs today.
With this, the total number of arrests since May 30 last year rose to 8,417. A total of 36,273 raids were carried out in shops near schools during the period, an official release said today.
