2 CPM leaders held in bomb explosion case

Kannur | Police today arrested two local CPI (M) Leaders in connection with the East Chettakandy Bomb Explosion Case, in which two partymen were killed and and and equal number injured on June six while making bombs.
Police said they arrested CPI(M) Chelakkode Branch Secretary V M Chandran (36), a marble tiles worker of Thoovakunnu and Vilakottor Local Committee Member B Vijithlal (24), who was employed as a teacher in a school at Periyandi.
The duo was produced before the Thalassery CJM  this afternoon which remanded them in judicial custody for 14 days.
Police said they got evidence of Chandran’s presence near the explosion site while Vijithlal facilitated making bombs. The investigation was going on to nab more persons in this connection.
Meanwhile, bomb disposal squad led by DCRB Dy SP Lawrence today seized five country made bombs from an unused plot at Kunnothparamaba.
The  explosives were concealed in a plastic bag. Around 100 policemen from QRT, RRF, MSP, Dog and  Bomb Squad were conducting raids at Kolavallur and Panoor Police Limits since June six.
They also seized three bombs, including a steel bomb from Vilakatoor yesterday Police said the raids would continue.
