New Delhi | The Aam Aadmi Party is in trouble again as the Delhi Police is in the process of filing chargesheets against 21 AAP MLAs.
There are several criminal cases against AAP MLAs. We were investigating the matter and as per law.We will be filing chargesheets against them, a senior police official said.
Sources in the police said there were around 25 pending criminal cases against AAP MLAs for the past two years. The chargesheets will include the names of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
The police has issued chargesheets six times against Mr Kejriwal and a probe is going in two other cases. Mr Sisodia has been booked for violating prohibitory orders, when he participated in the Railway Bhavan protest in January 2014.
The police has registered a case of cheating and forgery against former Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar. Recently another AAP MLA was faced with a controversy when former AAP MLA Rajesh Garg alleged that the degree that Karol Bagh MLA Vishesh Ravi claimed to have acquired, was a ‘fake’ one.
The police has registered four FIRs against the AAP’s Kondli MLA Manoj Kumar who is being probed for charges of cheating and forgery, instigating the security forces and misbehaving with women.
Police sources said the maximum cases against them include those of interference in the working of the government and also of indulging in misbehaviour.
However, the AAP has termed it as a conspiracy by the police and the Centre. The move by the police will be like adding fuel to the fire in the ongoing fight between the Centre and the Delhi government.
