Kannur | The Indian Martial Arts Academy and Yoga Study Centre (IMAAYSC), Kannur a CPI(M) controlled organization, will start secular yoga and martial arts training with a newly introduced yoga curriculum from tomorrow, on the world international yoga day.
The district level inauguration of yoga classes will be held on tomorrow at Peravoor by Block Panchayat President M Rajan, said E Rajeev of Peravoor, director and district co-ordinator of IMAAYSC at a press conference here today.
In the first phase, the yoga training classes under secularist yoga curriculum , a codified yoga syllabus with 30 types of Asanas will be started from July one at nine places in the district– Peravoor, Thaliparamba, Pappinnisssery, Mayyil, Mattanur, Alakkode, Iritty, Thalassery and Koothuparamba.
Media reports said this type of Yoga training has already began in Palakkad, Kottayam and Alappuzha Districts and it will be introduced in all districts in coming days . CPI(M) leaders are in the process of coordinating the yoga instructors in this regard . A district-level yoga instructors meeting was held yesterday at District committee office here and formed IMAAYSC organization.
Kannur Government Ayurveda college Yoga Instructor Krishna Das said the modernized yoga curriculum will rejuvenate the body and mind as well as ensure health and this yoga would be acceptable by all political parties and religions. This curriculum does not involve chanting any prayer during asanas including Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation).
However, the organizers said this is not a part of any politics and have no political support from CPI(M) but all secularist thinking people would join this yoga training class. He said, within three months the yoga affect would be got by the beneficiaries and the fees is Rs 500 per month for eight classes in a month.
Mr Rajeev said they would give training to 100 youths in first phase and the trained instructors would lead class in hundred centres across the district.
He said the yoga classes will be start in all districts accordingly to save the people from the lifestyle-related diseases and set up a new generation having good discipline and health.
Karate and other types of martial art form classes will be started by IMAAYSC in the district. The district level inauguration of these classes will be held on July 5 at Sreekandapuram and the martial art classes will start at 11 areas– Sreekandapuram, Peravoor, Pinarayi, Alakkode, Mayyil, Thaliparamba, Iritty, Koothuparamba, Madayi, Edakkat, Mattanur, Peringome, Pappinnissery and Panoor.
