Thiruvananthapuram | A man shooting for a role of policeman in a Malayali film was arrested after it was found he was a main accused in an assault case and had been on the run for the past nine years, police said.
Police said the accused, identified as Santosh, was wanted in this connection with the assault on a 15-year-old boy in 2006 at Kumarapuram near here. He had also allegedly tried to kill the boy with an iron rod and knife, they said, adding he got a job in the Malayalam film industry as an extra and was getting few roles on a daily wage basis.
As the film was being shot in front of the state secretariat yesterday, police reached the spot and arrested Santosh, along with some others and took him into custody.
