New Delhi | Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is understood to have discussed the present political controversies, involving senior BJP leaders.
This is the first meeting between the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister after Mr Jaitley returned home yesterday following a 10-day visit to the US, sources in the know said.
Earlier on his return a circumspect Jaitley told newspersons yesterday that ”there is no minister in the government who is tainted” when asked for his reaction to Opposition’s demands for the resignations of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for their intervention on behalf of former IPL chief Lalit Modi.
To another question, Mr Jaitley had defended Lalit Modi’s investment in the business run by Ms Raje’s son, calling it a ”commercial transaction between two individuals.”
