Kannur | Former Thalassery Municipal Vice-Chairman, film producer and CPI(M) leader Pilakandy Muhammed Ali died in the early hours of today from liver-related disease at a hosptial in Kochi.
He was 64. He is survived by his wife Aysha and four children. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning in Saidhar Palli (mosque premises) near Thalassery.
A hartal had been called by all parties at Thalassery Municipality Area tomorrow from 0600 to 1200 hrs as a mark of respect to the deceased political leader.
He began his political career as IUML leader. He served as the IUML State working committe member, Youth League State Treasurer and later resigned from IUML about ten years back and joined CPI(M). He won three times as Municipal Councillor and elected as vice-chairman on CPI(M) ticket for Thalassery Municipality.
He produced two films and also acted in several Malayalam films.
