Thiruvananthapuram | Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today told the State Assembly that Rs 300 core was earmarked in the budget for providing support price of Rs 150 per kg to rubber farmers.
Replying to a calling attention moved by Mons Joseph, MLA, Mr Chandy said a new scheme was chalked out to spend the budget allocation to benefit small-scale rubber growers with two hectares of land.
The difference between the daily market price, announced by the Rubber Board and the support price would be credited to the bank account of the farmers.
A periodical assessment would be conducted to record the annual production of growers to check all kind of malpractices in this regard. The Centre was yet to communicate to the State on its demand for regulating rubber import, he added.
