Three armed Maoists visit tribal colony on Kerala-Karnataka border

Kannur | A three member Maoist gang, carrying weapons were seen at a tribal colony  near Kelakam in a forest area  on Kerala-Karnataka border.
Iritty Dy SP P Sukumaran told UNI, the three Maoists visited the house of one Kelappan  at about 0900 hrs and demanded rice and sugar.
Later, they ate a jack fruit  and before leaving left behind Maoist publication Kaattuthee and some other pamphlets. Investigation was going on with assistance from thunderbolt police force in the nearby areas since Monday morning.
Meanwhile, a five-member Maoist gang visited some houses at Thavinhal panchayat in Wynad district on June 28 and handed over Maolist literature ti the inmates. Police suspect that the three Maoists who had visited the tribal colony today may have belonged.to this group.
The District Sessions Court today remanded a Maoist leader Roopesh to police custody  for three days. He was arrested on suspicion of carrying weapns near Peravoor on 2013.
