Thiruvananthapuram | The Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau (VACB) today submitted a report in connection with bar bribe case, in which Kerala Finance Minister K M Mani is allegedly involved, to the Vigilance Court here.
It was alleged that the Finance Minister had collected bribe from the bar owners to re-open the closed bars in the State. The Opposition parties alleged that the Government was protecting the Kerala Congress (M) leader and tainted minister, who is the leader of second largest ally of the Congress-led UDF Government in Kerala. The Kerala Congress (M) was playing blackmail politics to save its leader from corruption charges, they added.
However, a few days ago, the VACB came under severe criticism for its finding that there is no evidence against the Minister for filing a FIR against him in the bar bribe case. The details of the report submitted by the Vigilance DYSP to the court today did not reveal any involvement of the minister.
