Court adjourns CPM leader’s bail petition

Kannur | Thalasserry Principal Sessions Court today adjourned the hearing of the anticipatory bail petition of CPM Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan in the RSS district functionary K Manoj murder case to July 22.
The petition came up before the district sessions judge R Narayana Pisharody today. The court said Mr Jayarajan is not named in the accused list in this case, as more trail would be wanted in this case.
Jayarajan’s counsel K Viswan submitted that the anticipatory bail application which was filed on July 10 and deferred the hearing from July 13 to July 16.
Meanwhile, CPI(M) Payyanur area secretary T I Madhusoodhanan, named as the 20th accused in this case, filed an anticipatory bail plea on July 13  through Mr Viswan and it would hear on July 20.  Mr Jayarjan had moved for anticipatory bail alleging political motive to arrest him in the Kathiroor Manoj murder case. The CBI probing the case had questioned him.
Mr Madhusoodhanan. who was summoned by CBI on July nine for questioning, but he did not appear before the probe team.
The 42-year-old Manoj  was murdered on September 1, last year and 23 CPI(M) activists were so far arrested in this case and out of which, four of them got bail from courts.  Manoj was the fifth accused in the murder attempt carried on Jayarajan in 1999.
