Malappuram | A driver was killed when his tanker lorry rolled down and fell into a canal after catching fire at Palachiramad near Kottakkal in Malappuram district of Kerala today.
Police said the vehicle fell down to the canal when the driver apparently lost control while negotiating a curve at Palachiramad on Edarikkod National Highway around 0300 hrs.
The nearly empty tanker which caught fire as an impact of the fall was doused by six fire engines reached from nearby localities.
The deceased was identified as Manoharan Ras (45), a native of Perumalpalayam, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. The tanker was proceeding from Kochi to Mangalore when the tragedy stuck.
