Kochi | Kerala Chief Secretary Jiji Thomson today said that the issues related to various government departments in the SmartCity project would be sorted out soon.
Addressing media after a meeting with the SmartCity authorities and other officials of various government departments, he said the District Collector had been entrusted the responsibility to take action regarding the encroachments in the SEZ, amounting to nearly 35 cents.
The issue related to the registration of lease deed of the co-developers for want of clarification on their eligibility for stamp duty exemption would also be sorted out very soon, he added.
Informing that the construction of the road from Edachira to Brahmapuram Bridge would start on Monday, the Chief Secretary said that the estimate for the construction of road from Brahmapuram to Karimugal would be prepared by July 31.
Stating that the other infrastructure facilities would be completed on a long term basis, Mr. Jiji Thomson expressed the hope that the first IT complex can be inaugurated in August or September.
Interim CEO Baju George remarked that after he took over as CEO, the project had been put under an acceleration mode to overcome past delays by adopting more aggressive project plan and increasing the manpower.
He also informed that 40 per cent of the space in the first IT complex had already been leased out to IT companies.
SmartCity had five co-developers who had obtained approvals from Union Commerce Ministry to construct 43 lakhs sq ft of IT office space in next 30-36 months, he added.
