New Delhi | The ruling BJP today submitted a notice for breach of privilege motion against Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra for a Facebook post, regarding proceedings and performance of members and leaders in Parliament.
The issue figured in the Lok Sabha amid pandemonium over the ongoing deadlock over the alleged Lalitgate and Vyapam scams.
As mobbing in the Well by Opposition members continued, Bharatiya Janata Party chief whip Arjun Ram Meghwal rose to seek Speaker Sumitra Mahajan’s permission to move the motion.
In the din, neither could the Speaker respond nor Mr Meghwal speak further as soon after the House was adjourned for an hour.
When it again reassembled, Prahlad Joshi (BJP) reaffirmed the demand for breach of privilege proceedings against Mr Vadra. Several other BJP members raised slogans against Mr Vadra.
Ms Sonia Gandhi was seen making dismissive and disapproving gestures by shaking her head on Mr Joshi’s statement.
Talking to media persons after adjournment of the House, the Speaker remained non-committal over the move and said the House privilege committee has to take the call.
