Kannur | CPI(M) Kannur secretary, P Jayarajan, who was in leave since the first week of July following the heart related medical treatment, today assumed the post after he was discharged from the hospital today.
His leave from the party post and the medical treatment had led to speculation that he wanted to avoid being arrested in the murder of RSS district functionary Manoj of Kathiroor.
Though, the CBI had not named him in an accused in this case, he had sought anticipatory bail plea on July 13. But the petition was rejected by the Thalassery District Sessions court.
Talking to newspersons at CPI(M) District Committee office , Mr Jayarajan said he was given leave by the party on medical grounds, and now he was taking charge as the treatment though he still had health problems.
He alleged his leave was politicised by some media and rival parties, who said he was hiding to escape arrest.
