Police arrest man for duping people promising loans from Gulf

Kozhikode | The city police has arrested a man for duping people, mainly women, on the pretext of getting financial assistance from Arab nationals.
Police today said the the town police with support from city crime squad and cyber cell arrested Naduvathumchalil Assinar (50), a native of neighbouring Malappuram district at Kozhikode Railway station yesterday on a complaint by one of the victims.
Giving details of his modus operandi, Assistant Commissioner of Police A J Babu said, Assainar impersonating as an advocate and at times as a Gulf returnee, used to lure people to whom he had befriended on trains and mosques that he would get help from Arabs who are in the town.
Later he sent the victims to particular rooms and AC compartments in train to meet the Arab nationals after taking valuables, including cash, sovereigns and mobile phone from them and disappeared from the scene, they added.
