Ballari | Three casual labourers drowned in Tungabhadra canal when a Bolero Jeep, in which they were travailing, plunged into it near Torangallu village in Sandur taluk of the district today.
Police said the deceased were identified as Tanoja (37), Nitin (35) and Ratana (32).
The jeep driver Srishant escaped unhurt in the incident that took place late last night. The victims, all hailed from Kerala, working as casual labours in Soubhagya Construction Ltd, in Toranagallu industrial area, were returning to Bellari when the driver lost control and the vehicle fell into Daroji Canal.
Efforts are on to fish out the bodies. Expert Swimmers and fire fighters are on the work.
