Thiruvananthapuram | UST Global, a leading digital technology services company that provides powerful solutions for Global 1000 companies, was today lauded at the State-level launch of the Freedom from Waste campaign as part of this year’s Independence Day celebrations by the Kerala Suchitwa Mission.
The recognition came for the services and support the company has been extending in the state’s sanitation campaign.
At the launch of the Freedom from Waste campaign, the services and support of UST Global towards Green Protocol initiatives were applauded with a memento and an appreciation certificate.
The function was inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and was presided over by Panchayat Minister M. K. Muneer.
Responding to the recognition accorded to UST Global, Mr Alexander Varghese, Chief Administrative Officer, UST Global, said, ‘UST Global takes great pride and effort in supporting this initiative. We are aligned to the United Nations Global Impact recommendations in the area of environment. Till date, UST Global has been responsible for the planting of close to 8000 saplings.”
According to Dr. K. Vasuki, Executive Director, Suchitwa Mission, ‘the state will become a model to the whole nation towards its fight against waste and a step in the direction of States’ committed effort towards Swachh Bharat by 2019′.
As part of the Green Protocol initiatives, UST Global had extended support and services to the Suchitwa Mission during the recently concluded National Games by helping in doing away with waste paper, plastic plates, cups, and bottles.
The bold initiatives of the Green Protocol Committee of National Games succeeded in making the National Games venues ‘zero waste areas’ by adopting a slew of measures, including restriction on the use of disposable containers or packaging material (for food and drinks) inside the venue.
