Kochi | The special B. Sc students of Maharajas, Ernakulam have had a get together in Maharaja’s college, Ernakulam, one day before. They were there as students about 45 years back. With evergreen memories they came to their own Maharajas campus and shared the same.
They made a round trip to their campus once again as friends and had a get together in one of their classmate’s houses. Jackson of Kuruppancherry, at Kumbalangi an employee at Bank of Muscat was the host.
Special B. Sc course conducted in Maharajas only for a short period, viz. from 1969 to 1971. So it is indeed a rare get together of a rare course’s students. This course was offered by Kerala University before its bifurcation. The specialty of this course was no second language to study in the first year and the subsidiary subjects concluded in the second year and the final year had only main subject.
The implementation of this particular course had a special motive to mould the course takers into scientists. But the students of this particular course segregated themselves to diverse areas of occupation, many reached high in official ranks.
The association president K.K. Jayakumar, former additional chief secretary inaugurated the meeting. The main proponents of the program were P.C. John- former executive director of Federal Bank, M.P. Sukumaran Nair-former Managing director of TCC and Adv. Mathew Paul. They hold office as the vice presidents and General secretary of the association.
The gathering paid homage to departed classmates, former NIA chief Radha Vinod Raju, Prof. Annie Joseph Vallamattom, Dr. Jose Kuruvila and V.M. Devassy. The association decided to celebrate with widespread programs, the 50th birthday of their own ‘Special B. Sc’ on 2016.
