Thiruvananthapuram | The Kerala government today sanctioned Rs 6 crore for the maine ambulance to help fishermen in adverse conditions.
In a release here, state Fisheries Minister K Babu said three marine ambulances would be purchased at a cost of Rs two crore each. He said the decision was taken in view of growing number of mishaps on the sea.
Official sources said though a proposal in this regard was mentioned in the state budget for 2013-14, it failed to take off owing to various reasons. The proposal was aimed at deploying vessels equipped with modern medical facilities to provide immediate care to victims of mishaps at sea.
