CPI(M) seeks judicial probe into boat tragedy

Kochi | Communist Party of India (Marxist) Kerala Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan today sought a judicial probe into boat tragedy at Fort Kochi, in which ten people, lost their lives.
Talking to newspersons  here, the CPI(M) leader said, a comprehensive probe was required, and since the Cochin Corporation and the boat contractor were responsible for the accident, they should also be included as accused in the untoward incident.
The minister demanded an explanation from the authorities concerned on non-implementation of judicial reports and adoption of safety measures for similar boat tragedies’ in the past so far.
Demanding  a special financial package to the kin of those, who lost in the mishap, Mr Balakrishnan said the  current financial
assistance declared by the government was insufficient, as majority of them did not have a proper residence.
