Akanksha Puri is very happy as her debut in Bollywood ‘Calander girls’ is about to release in September. The actress is in celebration mood with her birthday also coming in between. Akanksha is favorite to Malayalis through her three films viz. Praise the Lord, Amar Akbar Antony and Samrajyam. After many AD Films, Praise the Lord was her first movie score. She marked her presence in Tamil and Kannada too. Ashi to near and dear, she loves God’s own country, and its people.
Ashi considers it is indeed a luck to act with Mammooty, the superstar actor in Malayalam. Got the chance to learn many things while in the shooting time of the film Praise the Lord with the mega star Mammootty. He is very co-operative. And of course he is very handsome and healthy, says Ashi with a smile. Malayali girl residing outside the state, was her character in that film. It was a really great experience to be with the great actor Mammootty.
Kerala it is literally God’s own country, no exaggeration in it. I love the beauty of Kerala a lot. The backwaters in Alleppey and voyage in house boats are the things I love the most. Kovalam is another favorite spot for me. I have been to Kerala many times. Knows about Onam, have acted in many advertisements in Onam season. The delicious and versatile dishes of Karala, always attracted me a lot.”Kerala Style Food”, to me is very much a passion. Her love to Kerala is beyond words.
In Mammootty-starrer Praise the Lord, the actress was seen as a Delhi-bred Keralite and was paired opposite Ahmed Sidhique. Akanksha says she was not comfortable with Malayalam initially, but after dubbing for Praise the Lord, she has got a hold over the language. In Amar Akbhar Antony she was against Prithviraj.
“Actress Rinu Mathew is a good Malayali friend to me. She was an air hostess, we both were being together. She also acted in Praise the Lord”. Akanksha reached the filmdom while working as an air hostess in international planes. Initially her presence was through commercials. She did act in about 80 advertisements. She has got the invitation from Madhur Bhandarkar for the role in Calendar girls, when she was dubbing for Malayalam movie Praise the Lord.
