Nikhila Vimal, heroine in Malayalam movie Love 24/7 is in the Onam festive mood in her house at Trichambaram. Nikhila Vimal plays the female lead opposite Dileep in Love 24×7.
She made her debut playing Jayaram’s sister in Sathyan Anthikad’s Bhagyadevatha. Prior to that she had acted in a documentary on Saint Alphonsa aired on Shalom TV.
She hails from Kannur and born to M. R. Pavitran a research assistant and dance teacher Kalamandalam Vimala Devi. Dance opened up her chances to films. Daughter of classical dancer Kalamandalam Vimala Devi, she took to dancing at a young age and was active in the youth festival circuit, taking part in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Keralanadanam, mono acting and other items. It was through a family friend she got the role in Bhagyadevatha.
When reached 10th Std., she tried to move away from films to concentrate on studies. After that got opportunities in Tamil movies. She has got to do two leading roles in two different Tamil films.’Onpathu Kuzhi Sampath’,this is her debut in Tamil. Then acted in ‘Panchu Mittai’. She did her schooling in Sacred Heart School, Bharananganam, Kottayam. Graduation from Sir Sayyid College,Taliparamba.
Sreebala was the assistant director of the Sathyan Anthikkad film Bhagyadevatha, which was also happened to be the debut film of Nikhila. She was an eighth standard student then. Sreebala and Nikhila shared a good friendship after the film. That paved the way to Nikhila’s heroine status in the film love 24/7 directed by Sreebala K. Menon.
“As a debutante I was very much tensed when heard my hero is Dileep, the superstar. Balechi didn’t mention about this when narrating story. When I knew Dileepettan is my hero, I was scared, but Balechi gave me courage. He was very supportive and it is my luck too to be his heroine in my debut”. She was equally comfortable with all the senior actors including Sreenivasan and Suhasini. All of them were very cooperative and filming with them was real fun.
The character transforms from an ordinary girl Kabani Bonekad to a journalist Kabani. Nikhila beautifully presented it. The heroine in this film is typical Trivandrum native, very much shocked when heard the slang that is very difficult to follow. Nikhila says about her character.
Krishnan Balakrishnan, who did a role in the film, taught her Trivandrum slang. Nikhila dubbed in Trivandrum slang for her character.
Lots of new offers have come from Malayalam and Tamil. Going to do two Tamil films soon. No differentiation between Malayalam and Tamil, but the film should be good. Not decided to make film as career, yet.
She has one elder sister Akhila, a research student in JNU Delhi. Veteran actress-film maker Suhasini Mani Ratnam will play a pivotal role in the movie. Santhosh Pandit will make a cameo appearance as he himself.
