Kozhikode | Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala today underlined the need for a change in the mind set of people and political parties for attracting new business ventures for overall development of the state.
Speaking after presenting P V Sami Memorial Industrial and Socio-Cultural Award to Dr Siddeek Ahamed, Chairman and Managing Director of Saudi Arabia based Eram Group of Companies, he said unless a change in the attitude of the people and political parties development in the state cannot be aspired.
People and political parties should inculcate new ideas to achieve much sought after development in the state, he said.
All political parties, including his own Congress needed to be re-invented themselves in the process of a change in attitude, he said adding they would not be able to deal with the changing young generation with their old ideologies.
He also asked all political parties to go for introspection for the purpose.
Delivering the keynote address former Union Minister and Ex-Karnataka Chief Minister M Veerappa Moily said Keralites had a track record of proving their expertise in different arenas and called upon business community from the state to take on new challenges in other sectors too.
Hailing the award, Dr Siddeek Ahamed said he was elated to receive the award which was instituted in memory of freedom fighter and eminent industrialist P V Sami, who had contributed immensely for the development of Malabar region.
State Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty inaugurated the function presided over by Janata Dal (Secular) Kerala unit President and former Union Minister M P Veerendra Kumar.
Electricity Minister Aryadan Mohammed opened the P V Sami Memorial meet while CPI (M) Politburo member and former state Education Minister M A Baby, MLA inaugurated a seminar on ”Make in India- its Special Relevance to Kerala.”
P V Sami Memorial Committee Chairman and former Union Minister Vayalar Ravi, MP, well known film personality Sathyan Andhikkad, Mathrubhumi Managing Editor P V Chandran, its Director P V Gangadharan, District Collector N Prasanth and BJP State General Secretary B Gopalakrishnan and Flower TV Managing Director R Sreekantan Nair, among others, participated.
