Mumbai | Prime suspect in the high-profile Sheena Bora murder case, Indrani Mukherjea, wife of former Star India CEO Peter Mukherjea, has confessed to her role in the crime.
Police sources said here today, during the interrogation, Indrani has confessed to her role in murder of Sheena on April 24, 2012. Her earlier, theory that the victim has gone to the United States for further study and to settle there is disowned by her.
Mr Mukherjea, who had visited Khar Police station last week along with his lawyer, had tried to submit a written statement, but police refused to accept it. Now, it is blieved that he has agreed to record his statement with police on murder of his step-daughter Sheena.
Police have already recorded twice, the statement of Mr Peter’s son Rahul Mukherjea, as Rahul and Sheena had an affair.
Indrani was arrested on August 24, 2015 for the murder of Sheena Bora, her daughter from an earlier relationship. She has been accused of killing her over a financial dispute, with the help of her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyam Rai.
Peter Mukerjea, who has been married to Indrani for 13 years and set up a media company with her, had first said he was unaware that Sheena was his wife’s daughter; Indrani Mukerjea had introduced her to the world as her sister.
Meanwhile, Siddharth Bora, her first husband and biological father of victim have demanded in Kolkata that Indrani should be hanged for murder of Sheena.
