Sai Pallavi, who stole Malayalis’ hearts as ‘Malar’ in the film ‘premam’, attended the Walkathon organized in Kochi on Sunday, in connection with the cancer awareness move. The Walkathon, organized in cooperation with the Kochi corporation and the Indian Navy, was flagged off by Sai Pallavi and cricketer Sreesanth.
The Walkathon started from the Durbar Hall grounds by 7.30 in the morning and concluded at the same venue after covering Gandhi Square, Maharaja’s College, Law College, and St Teresa’s College premises. Walking about 3 kilometers Sai passed on a positive spirit. Activists of conserve society, employees of different hospitals in the city, school-college students, NCC, student police etc. participated in the Walkathon.
I have the great pleasure of being in touch with the conserve society, said Sreesanth. Conserve is a charitable society run by cancer survivors and volunteers. Bhadra, deputy mayor of Cochin corporation had also been in the front row of the Walkathon with Sai.
‘We can overcome any crisis with presence of mind. The society has the responsibility to support cancer patients and give them strength. It is a great thing that the Kerala government and social organizations have come up with various initiatives for them,’ Sai, who herself is a medico, adds.
At Durbarhall ground a ‘Flash Mob’ was presented by the students of St.Teresa’s college. Sai participated in the ‘Flash Mob’ and danced for the Tamil song ‘Pattonnu padi’.
Prof. K. V. Thomas MP, Hibi Eaden MLA, Anwar Sadat MLA, deputy Mayor B. Bhadra, Dr. Joseph Chacko Periyappuram, Aster Medicity CEO Dr. Hareesh Pillai,. NSS General Secretary P. Ramachandran etc. participated. Dr. Vijayakumar, Dr. Mohan Nair conducted cancer awareness class.
