Thiruvananthapuram | Faced with criticism over alleged depiction of saint-reformer Sree Narayana Guru as being crucified during a party-supported cultural procession, the CPI(M) in Kerala today decided to organise ‘secular gatherings’ from September 26 to October two.
In a statement here, CPI(M) state secretariat said ward-levelĀ  secular meets would be organised through out the state during the period.
The party said Sangh parivar outfits, which were trying to mobilise political mileage by misinterpreting the teachings of great philosophers and reformers, were creating provocation and unrest in the society.
It was a dangerous move to divide the society on the basis of religion and caste, the party said, adding that the party welcomed all sections of the society to participate in the secular gatherings.
