Shaheen Siddique is in a festive mood with his relatives and friends. This is the first ‘Valiya perunnal’ (Bakrid) to him ornamented with ‘stardom’. He is indeed happy with his new status as ‘star’ instead of ‘star kid’.
Yes. Yet another star kid has entered the block; Shaheen Siddique, son of actor Siddique. Shaheen is making his debut with the Malayalam film ‘Pathemari’ which is being directed by National Award winner Salim Ahamed.
“It is like a dream come true. I am indeed lucky as my entry to the film world is with a ‘fantastic crew’. Shaheen is very excited to be a part of the ‘Pathemari’ team, his debut.
Shaheen is in Salim Ahmed’s Pathemari, where the award-winning director has roped in the star kid to play son’s role to megastar Mammootty’s character. Shaheen, who is excited about his debut venture, says, “I am thankful to the director for picking me for the role of Mammootty’s son. Mammootty is like an elder brother to my father, he is my big uncle and I look forward to acting with him.
Shaheen is very thrilled to be the son of Megastar Mammootty in reel life. Mammootty is like a father figure to him and he is happy to grab a role along with him. But there are no combination scenes of the father and the son as Shaheen’s character lives in Kerala but the character of Mammootty is in the Middle East.
The film, written and directed by Salim Ahamed, talks about Malayali immigrants in West Asia. The plot of the film revolves around Pallickal Narayanan (Mammootty), who migrated to the Middle-East in the early 1980s, when Kerala’s Gulf boom was at its peak. Actor Siddique plays a prominent role in the film, but the father-son duo also do not have any combination scenes.
Shaheen is a degree holder in Mass Communications from London. He had not much interest to enter the film field. But he was compelled by his friends to be a part of the glamour world. Then he received film training from Act Lab, Kakkanad, Kochi and Anupam Kher’s Institute in Mumbai.
Farhan Fazil was also trained from Anupam Kher’s Institute. Training from film institutes helped to enhance self confidence in Shaheen. So when he got a chance in Pathemari, he approached the character with no nervousness.
He has spent his youth life in Kerala as well as in London. He likes jeans and T-shirt to wear. He loves books and a selective reader too.
At ‘Bakrid’, he is in a rejoicing mood. Usually in Bakrid days, used to go to mosque with father for ‘Namaz’ and then have food with all the family. In the evening we used to visit relatives and friends. A hotel named ‘Mamma Miya Hotel’ started in Kakkanad 2 years back. As busy with this, very rarely getting a chance to celebrate the festivals with family.
He is an adorer of his father Siddique’s acting style. “My father is my role mdel. I like all the characters he did. Govindankutty in ‘In Harihar Nagar’ is one of my most favorite roles of my father. I had gone to see the shooting of the film ‘Mr. Fraud’ and I really wondered, watching the acting of Mohanlal in a fight scene with my father”. Shaheen smiles.
