New Delhi | The health of Nirbhaya gangrape convict Vinay Sharma deteriorated last night and he was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, the police said. According to the police, Vinay suffered lung problems due to overdose of tobacco and was admitted to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital.
He was later released from the hospital as his health condition improved. The police are awaiting the medical report and further investigation is on to find out the exact reason for the deterioration of his health condition.
Around one month ago, he filed an application in the Delhi High Court for his security in Tihar Jail as he was attacked by his fellow inmates. He is lodged in high security cell in Tihar Central Jail along with three other convicts in the Nirbhaya gangrape case.
Another convict in this case, Ram Singh, was found dead in Tihar Jail in March 2013 hours before he was scheduled to appear in a court. His relatives had claimed that he was murdered, although the jail authorities refuted their allegations and said he had committed suicide.
