The search for and exploration of new vocalists to enliven music is never ending. Shahana Shajahan, a little school girl in Wayanad may once have a flagship for her own in the vast sea of film music titles in Malayalam, thanks to this never ending search for talent by music lovers.
A seventh standard student of Chundale R.C.School, Kalpetta, Shahana shot to fame when she sung the song ‘Kathirunnu’ from the movie ‘Ennu ninte moideen’ for a school function, and the video of which subsequently released on Facebook and went viral. Her voice quality was so near to challenge the original song ‘kathirunnu..’ sung by Shreya Ghoshal for the film. Her teacher M.C. Manoj, recorded the song and put on Facebook.
The other day Shahana was invited to the Moideen Seva Mandir foundation stone laying ceremony by Kanchanamala, the real heroine of Moideen, behind the film ‘Ennu Ninte Moideen’.
Now, Shahana is a star in school. Her parents Shajahan, Sulaikha have indeed pleasure, when their little daughter got such a fame. Her teacher Manoj has lots to say about his student. “Shahana is an excellent singer. I had posted her song on Facebook, which she sang in geriatric day. Many shared that. She sings like a professional singer. I really thrilled with the phone call of Major Ravi, telling that he wanted to see Shahana”.
Major Ravi was welcomed very warmly to the school. He came to see Shahana with chocolates. Once more he heard the song by her. Shahana has got an offer from the director. He offered a chance in his upcoming Mohanlal film.
Shahana has learned classical music since three years. Her elder sisters Shajla and Shamija too are good singers. Shajahan is a building contractor. Shahana’s favorite singers are Shreya Ghoshal and Vidhu Pratap. ‘Vijanathayil..’ from the movie, ‘How Old Are You’ is the song she likes the most, even though ‘Kathirunno..’ took her to lime light.
“The singer Ajay Gopal also congratulated her. The famous singer P. Jayachandran, talked on her”. Shajahan is jubilant.
