New Orleans | At least 16 people were injured in a shooting at a New Orleans playground on Sunday, reports quoting police said. Hundreds of people were gathered for a music video shoot at Bunny Friend when two groups in the crowd opened fire on each other, police said.
Police were on their way to break up a big crowd at the park yesterday evening when two groups began firing on each other, the New Orleans Police Department said in a statement. All the wounded were hospitalized. Investigators don’t know how serious the wounds are, or what prompted the shooting, police spokesman Tyler Gamble said. Witnesses told police that the gunmen ran off after the shooting. The park was crowded with hundreds of people, when the shooting erupted, police said. The video was being made without a permit to use the park, according to police.
Police Superintendent Michael Harrison told WDSU-TV that the shooting might be gang-related.
