Kochi | Police registered a case against SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappalli Natasan for trying to instigate communal tensions. The FIR registered against Natesan is in connection with his public address at Aluva on Sunday.
During the felicitation for his ongoing Samathwa Munnetta Yathra, Natesan criticised the government for religious bias in distributing aid on exigencies. The case against Natesan is for deliberately trying to disturb religious sentiments and the relevant section charged is IPC 153(A) which is a non bailable offense.
Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala justified the action in a media briefing and said Natesan’s further statements with regard to the offense will be scrutinised. However he denied any move to stop the Yathra. Ramesh described that the police action against Natesan is based on complaints filed by the KPCC and T N Prathapan MLA.
Natesan in his speech have accused that the compensation paid to Naushad who killed while trying to save the lives of two labours from a manhole in Kozhikode, was much higher in proportion to the relief paid for the three handball players who met with a road accident and lost their lives in Malappuram. Natesan accused the distribution of relief in these two incidents had a religious bias.
