Kerala loses by 6 wickets in Ranji Trophy

Malappuram | Himachal Pradesh defeated Kerala by 6 wickets in Ranji Trophy Group C match in Malapurram Wednesday.

The win puts HP in a good chance to qualify for the quarter-finals.

It was a dramatic turn of events on the second day. Kerala were bundled out for a hopeless 83 in the second innings in just 25.2 overs with outstanding bowling by Bipul Sharma, who claimed six wickets for 33 runs. Repeating his first innings performance, Captain Sanju Samson remained the top scorer with 19 runs.

The visitors needed just 24 runs to win the match, but what was seen as an easy task was made difficult for Himachal Pradesh when Kerala gave them some fight. Spinner Monish picked up 4 wickets without conceding a single run. And the four-day match was all over in one and a half day with Himachal Pradesh reaching the target in 4.3 overs.

Himachal Pradesh were all out for 163 in reply to hosts’ 103 in the first innings.
