Thiruvananthapuram | SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan has insisted that the recently launched political party Bharat Dharma Jana Sena is eligible to get ‘folded palms’ as its election symbol.
KPCC president V M Sudheeran had raised objection to the move by Vellappally’s new party seeking a symbol that has striking similarity to the ‘palm’ symbol of the Congress.
But speaking to media on Saturday, Vellappally said the two symbols are different. He added that this point will be brought to the Central Election Commission’s (CEC) notice when called for hearing on allotting the proposed symbol to the Bharat Dharma Jana Sena(BDJS).
CPM was allotted ‘sickle, hammer and star,’ and CPI was allotted ‘ears of corn and a sickle’ as symbols despite the fact that they have similarities, Vallappally noted.
Separately, in a program by a private news channel, he said that he would not contest in the upcoming Kerla Assembly elections.
