Kottayam | Baselios Cardinal Clemis Catholicos has praised Nair Service Society (NSS) for the role it played in upholding religious harmony in Kerala.

He was speaking at the inaugural function of the 139th birthday of NSS founder and social reformer Mannath Padmanabhan at the NSS headquarters in Perunna near Changanasserry Saturday.

The Catholicos of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church said the stand taken by NSS, the organization of the state’s influential Hindu Nair community, is worth mentioning.

In an apparent reference to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s exclusion from the Sivagiri pilgrimage inauguration, the Cardinal said it is a dangerous precedence to avoid even persons in high posts being targeted on religious lines.
