Kochi | Police have launched a quick verification against Excise Minister K. Babu in the bar bribery case. Ernakulam Range Vigilance Officer AIG R Nishanthini is in charge of the investigation. She will collect evidence from the complainant from Friday.

The investigation team will submit the report at Vigilance Court, Thrissur, on January 23. The court ordered quick verification on December 9. The court order was based on a petition calling for filing a case charging K. Babu as first accused, and Biju Ramesh as second accused in the bar bribery scam.

The petitioner, George Vattakkulam, a social activist, approached the court following an allegation by Biju that he paid Rs. 50 crores as bribe to the Minister.
