Thiruvananthapuram | The Special Vigilance Court, Thiruvananthapuram, has ordered vigilance inquiry against SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan and three others into alleged corruption in the controversial micro finance scheme run by SNDP.
Opposition leader V.S. Achuthanandan had filed a petition calling for an investigation into the scam, in which he alleged irregularities amounting to Rs. 15 crores.
Vigilance had earlier found irregularities amounting to more than Rs. 80 lakhs.
Achuthananadan alleges in his complaint that SNDP has availed loans on lower interest rates from the Backward Communities Development Corporation and distributed them at higher rates to its customers during 2013-15.
V.S. alleges that Vellappally Natesan, SNDP Yogam President MN Soman, micro finance scheme co-ordinator KKMaheshan and Backward Communities Development Corporation former MD N Najib are the main links in the scam, and seeks investigation against them.
The court has asked vigilance to conduct an inquiry and file a case if they receive evidence to substantiate the allegations. It has also been ordered that First Investigation Report be submitted before March 5.
