The first test run on Kochi Metro rail has been successfully completed at Muttom Depot test track, Aluva.
Although designed driverless, the test run was conducted with a driver on a special track after 4 am on Thursday, powered by Muttam yard 33 KV substation.
The Metro train ran at a speed range of 5-25 km/hr, and the test run was successful, Kochi Metro Rail Corporation MD Elias George told reporters.
More test runs will be conducted on tomorrow, he added. The trial run, which is scheduled to be held on February 23, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
