First trial run of Kochi Metro train flagged off; regular services in November

Kochi | Chief Minister Oommen Chandy flagged off the first trial run of Kochi Metro rail at Muttom Depot test track, Aluva, Saturday.

Earlier, speaking at the occasion, the Chief Minster declared that Metro train will start regular services on November 1.

The trial run was confined to a 1 kilometer track inside the yard.

The trial run was conducted on a special track after 12 noon, powered by Muttam yard 33 KV substation.

Ministers Aryadan Mohammed, K. Babu, Ibrahim Kunj, Anoop Jacob, MPs, MLAs, and officials were among those attended the function.

The public broke barricades in protest against denying them entry to the function, while the District Collector was not invited to the same, reports say.
