Chief Minister cancels all public functions due to state-wide protests

Thiruvananthapuram | Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Power Minister Aaryaadan Mohammed have cancelled all their public functions Friday due to state-wide protests against them over the shocking revelations by Saritha S Nair, the main accused in the solar scam.

A decision to this effect was taken on the basis of advice that it will be to ensuer security to the ministers.

Youth political organizations — DYFI and Yuvamorcha – have launched state-wide protests against the ministers after Saritha Nair told the investigating judicial commission that she paid bribe to Oommen Chandy and Aaryaadan Mohammed through their agents to get approval and favors for her solar power panel marketing scheme.

Meanwhile, DGP TP Senkumar has ordered the police force to strengthen the security for the Chief Minister in the wake of mounting protests against him. The head of the state police force held a meeting with the CM at his official residence in the morning.
